Upright format

I prefer my canvases in upright format.
This stems from the basic question of my paintings: How do I stand in the world? How do I feel?

The pure feeling spreads out and extends horizontally – it tends towards landscape format.
My question, however, focuses on my position as a person in this feeling. This calls for a portrait format.

I experience the human being in his task as a mediator between cosmic light and earthly connectedness.
I anchor in the earth and receive the message of the stars. In this way I form a bridge between heaven and earth.

This is a highly energetic connection with a lively exchange that flows through me and puts me in a resonance of emotions.
I report on this in my pictures.

If I spread my arms out and make myself wide, then I feel the square is appropriate.
In my current works, the landscape format only comes into play when I line up three postures to form a triptych and thus depict a transformation or three aspects.

So I am very clearly committed to the vertical format.
