As social beings, we live in different systems.
Am I able to be myself in some of these systems and express myself freely and authentically?
What does it look like in the world of work, among friends, in the family or in a partnership?
Some community systems promote my authentic being, others suppress or ignore it.
If I play by the rules of a system, I voluntarily surrender to its effects and function.
If I revolt against the effect of a system, I still accept the system’s power over me.
Unsuccessful revolts continue to confirm the power of the system. If revolts are successful, we must look very carefully to see whether the counter-proposal to the revolt pays homage to the scheme of the system that has been overcome.
My impulse to overcome functionality is based on a free creative act that is not oriented towards the impulse of the existing through a counter-movement.
I simply connect with my very own creative power and create completely new realities. I can repurpose things, play with roles and self-images or create something completely new.
I am free to indulge in my creative impulse and expression and thus create new living spaces and contexts.
Of course, this activity will offend other people.
I recently had a conversation with a long-standing martial artist at one of my exhibitions. He felt that my handling of weapons was unworthy and considered the katana in particular to be dishonored if I “just put paint on it”.
I don’t need to take issue with this point of view in any way, because it is a valid point of view that I respect.
I am not in revolt, but in an act of creation that gives rise to a new reality – the goodness of which neither increases the more I take action against other points of view, nor begs for acceptance.
With the relaxed self-confidence of I-am-there, I call a new reality into being.
Humans are amazingly gifted creatures!
